Mountain Ranges of Jammu & Kashmir

The physical geography of Jammu & Kashmir is dominated by mountains. In fact, almost the entire Union Territory lies within the Himalayan mountain system.
Understanding the mountain ranges is very important because many exam questions come as:

  • “Match the range with region”

  • “Which range separates Jammu and Kashmir?”

  • “Cold desert lies in which range?”

If you clearly remember the order and location, you can solve most MCQs easily.
